With 20 miles of hiking trails and 15 miles of paved biking paths, Gooseberry Falls State Park is one of the places to go in order to get a great Minnesota experience. In the winter, the park also offers 12 miles of groomed cross-country skiing trails. You can even snowshoe anywhere in the park. These trails are a great experience if you are walking, peddling or skiing.
Located along Minnesota’s border with Canada lies the Boundry Water Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW). The BWCAW has over 1 million acres of land, 2,000 back country campsites, and 1,200 miles of canoe routes to explore. The most popular activites in the BWCAW are canoeing, fishing, backpacking, ang dogsledding. It is important to note that the BWCAW does not allow motor vehicles in any capacity and permits are needed for any overnight visits. The Superior Hiking Trail starts in Two Harbors and goes all the way up north to Canada. The north shore section of the trail has 255 miles of continuous trails. The Super Hiking Trail goes through several state parks including Gooseberry Falls State Park, Tettegouche State Park, and Split Rock Lighthouse State Park. The trail provides visitors a unique hiking experience right on Lake Superior.
